How is your appetite?

Some days, I feel such an intense hunger in my stomach. Seems like no matter how much I eat the day before, the next morning my stomach is hungry again. I have had my plate full of “filling up” this past month, as our congregation celebrates “Pastor Appreciation” month. They seem to be appreciating us thru our stomachs!

Oh my. The banana pudding. The chocolate cobbler. The ding dong chocolate cake. The blueberry torte. Not to mention the taco soup brought to our house with homemade corn bread. And the nights out to eat. It goes on and on and the month is only half over! This weekend, we are being treated to Cheesecake Factory! Can I say “oh my” again?

When we sit at the table of such feasts, we never leave hungry. In fact, if you are like me, we tend to overindulge alittle and feel like we need to roll away instead of walk away.

This week, I was reading in the book of Ruth, and how fitting it was for me during this celebration month…

“And she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.” -Ruth 2:14

Like Ruth, whenever we are privileged to eat of the bread that Jesus offers, we always leave satisfied and full. When Jesus is our host, no guest will ever leave hungry. Our desire for Him will quickly be quenched like no kind of water we have ever drank. Only the Living Water can fill us with such love, hope and fullfillment.

I have sat at many friends tables, and honestly, I have become so full that I couldn’t possibly eat another bite. I am so thankful that the table of Christ is not like this. Just when we think we have taken in all that He has for us, there is still more. Lots more.

Leftovers are always great, because we can always go back for more. There are so many sweet things in Gods Word that we have not even begun to enjoy. That is why sometimes we have to take in as much as we can, digest it, and come back to the table later. His refrigerator has an unlimited supply of leftovers.

Jesus told His Disciples this very thing.

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now.” – John 16:12

May we never get too full of what God has to offer. It is my prayer that my appetite for Him and His fullness will always be a sweet taste in my mouth.  And as I sit at His table, may His nourishment feed my soul.

Are you hungry? Pull up a chair and see what is on God’s menu today and indulge alittle bit. You will leave His table satisfied!

Dear Laurie, I am so glad that the food on the Lord’s table is satisfying and He knows just how much we need, I am also happy that He invites us to eat at any time, because the table is always set with the WORD, PRAYER, AND PRAISE TO HIM, Blessings Gloria
