The Beauty of Nature

I’ve become more aware of the beauty of nature lately.  I can think of two reasons for my increased awareness.

Photography has opened my eyes.  I find myself constantly on the lookout for photo opportunities.  Sometimes it’s a sunset or a rainbow or new bud that has opened on my rose bush.  For far too long, I took these things for granted.

Reading and studying Scripture has also opened my eyes to the beauty of nature.  As I consider that God created the heavens and the earth, I’m more awed by the beauty He created.

Not too long ago,  I memorized Psalm 19 during my early morning quiet time.  As I sat on the outside patio,  I watched the sun rise.  At night I would come outside to look at the stars in the sky.  To me, there’s something so beautiful and yet calming about nature.

How can you look at nature and not realize that there’s a God who created it?

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.  Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.  Psalm 19:1-4

The Grand Canyon is one of the most awesome places to visit.  Looking out at the vast expanse of canyon walls that reflect a variety of colors is overwhelming.  It’s difficult to find the words to describe its beauty.

Whenever it rains in Phoenix (which isn’t very often), I get so excited.  I know that after the rain there will be a rainbow.  It’s fun to be on the lookout and to see the different colors that shine through.

And then there’s the ocean.  Walking along the beach in Carmel, California is such a special treat.  The sound of the waves breaking on the shore and the smell of the salt air brings back special memories.

As you go about your day, would you determine to become more aware of your surroundings?  Notice the beauty of the flowers in your garden or the birds as they sing to one another.  God created each one of them.

And while you’re enjoying the beauty of nature, thank the Lord for all He created.  He knows each star in the heavens and each bird in the air.

How much more does He care for you?

Tell me that doesn’t just …overwhelm you?

Blessings and love,

Heart Choices

You are right, Debbie. We often rush too quickly through life to even notice the beauty around us. You can find His fingerprints even in the big city.

Thank you so much for your thoughts this morning.

Overwhelming. Facedown awe-inspiring. My children, writing and the camera all have me looking upward and downward with fresh eyes. Sparks curiousity. Humbles. I find a new appreciation for the clouds and the bugs. I find reasons to go outside just so that I can capture a new find…
Love the rainbow picture. And I would love to visit the Grand Canyon someday.
Hope your day is “overwhelming” with God’s goodness.

    Totally overwhelmed…

“How can you look at nature and not realize that there’s a God who created it? “….amen!

Debbie–His awesome paint palette amazes me daily! And He does it all—EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR US!

I loved this post–and when I read the verses you used, it reminded me of a little scripture song I have “somewhere” on a CD…and I found myself humming along.

Thank you for sharing HIS beauty in the skies where YOU are!

Besides reminding me of how wonderful God’s creation is, your post also reminded me of how as Christian woman, each of us is connected in this world through Christ. Your picture of the woman having her quiet time looks so much like the town I just moved from I had to take a double take. And the picture of the Grand Canyon could be from my photo album! The Pacific Ocean by Carmel is also one of my favorite places to admire the glory of God’s creation. Amazing — to realize that different eyes have seen the same places with the same opinion: The beauty of God is magnificent! Thank you for sharing!

I have been thinking similar things lately Debbie. We are having a glorious spring – and I can’t help but feel such a sense of God’s presence in everything around me.
    This was beautiful!

Thank you, Debbie for leading us in worship by sharing how He has touched your heart through His creation. I spent my Sunday out in His creation looking for signs of spring and taking lots of pictures. His creation is a magnificent cathedral to worship in.

    Blessings.

Oh yes! One thing that I’ve noticed lately are the beautiful bluebonnets we have. The field behind our house gets full of these pretty red flowers, it looks so amazing!

We went to the Painted Desert and it was beautiful, but really it made me want to see the Grand Canyon! I’ve never been there.

Hope you are having a good week!

Beautiful! I think for the rest of this week I’ll try and slow down and enjoy the beauty he has surrounded me with a little more.
