Cling to Him – The God of Comfort

Philippians_4

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7

As I am sitting here, the cursor on the blank page blinking, I don’t know what to share to encourage you, my sweet friends.

There is just so much pain and hurt in the dark world. People shooting people for no apparent reason…a wife losing her husband, being left behind to care for their small children…friends battling diseases, some losing the fight and others fully recover…

Yes, so much pain and despair. However, there is also beauty, comfort, and peace when people reach out…to help the widow financially…a community coming together for prayer…providing meals to the sick…and comfort family members who lost a loved one.

Paul writes these words in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”

My sweet friends and readers; yes it is a dark world, however we are called to comfort those who are afflicted. Reach out today to someone close to you or even a stranger. Let His light shine through you.

“Lord of mercy and grace. Today I come before You to ask for strength and peace. Help me to let Your light shine. May I comfort those who need comforted. I am trusting in Your mercy. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen”

    Iris,
This is a word in season. Thanks for the reminder to turn to the God of all comfort in these troubling times. We need to be continually reminded.
