What is shaking our world?

This morning about 7:30 am my husband said to me, “I think I just felt a earthquake!”

Certainly, I thought to myself, that couldn’t be. But sure enough, as the day went on, reports came out that we had had a earthquake registering 4.4 on the Richter scale.

We were some of the lucky ones, not having any damage or disaster. But that is not the same for everyone. Even as I write this, I am listening to reports of Hurricane Sandy hitting many people. Such disasters are returning the word “famine” to our lips again with the loss of homes, the loss of jobs and the loss of lives. While the nation and politicians try to rebuild hope in our nation and economy, something inside of me screams…”Jesus is coming back!”

I saw Heaven and earth new-created. Gone the first Heaven, gone the first earth, gone the sea. I saw Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a bride for her husband. I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: “Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God. He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone.” The Enthroned continued, “Look! I’m making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate.” Revelation 3:1-5 (The MSG)

Just as we stood in our living room this morning, feeling the floor and walls shake, I can’t help but think that God is shaking our world as well to awaken His children! Warning us, shaking us to realize that the time is coming near. He is trying to summon His children, but we must be alert. Alert like a child playing in the neighborhood who hears the voice of their dad calling, “Son, it is time to come home.”

May we be like the little child playing, and once we hear the voice of our Father, we go running into His arms. May we see the signs. Hear the sounds. May we keep alert and notice that God is shaking His world for one final call.

Do you feel the tremors? Can you hear Him calling?

People get ready…He is coming soon!

In my heart, these are all reminders as well because the world is terribly mistreated and God created this as a resource in addition to an infinite amount of things

Hello Laurie, what a good word, come Lord Jesus! As I think of His return I am filled with joy,and yet there are still so many who do not believe, even though God is shaking our world. So yes we’re excited and yet we must continue to pray for the sheep that are not safely in the fold.
    Love you 🙂
