Encouraged by four little words

At the end of August we found out we are having another baby! We are thankful and excited, but I’ve felt nervous too because of our previous miscarriages. We went to our first doctor’s appointment on September 11. We saw our little baby, and it filled us with joy to see that little heart beating strongly on the screen.

We decided to go ahead and share our news at that time. It seems in our society it has become generally accepted and expected to wait until after the first trimester to announce a new pregnancy. I understand the worry of loss as we’ve been through two.

We felt though that we were excited about this new life and wanted to share that news with others. I’m so glad we made that decision. I cannot tell you how many people have told me they are praying for us and our baby. When I go volunteer at the school, several always ask how I’m doing and tell me they are praying. At our church each time we go I will have many hugs and people telling me “I’m praying for you.” One man told me he was praying for me at 6 o’clock that morning. Another lady told me she knew 10 weeks was hard for me (because that’s when I had the first miscarriage) and that she was praying for me.

Hearing this over and over has encouraged my heart so much! I feel blessed that all those people care for us and our new little one. I’m still nervous, but my heart is uplifted knowing so many are praying with us for this new life.

As Christians we can encourage and pray for one another. When we know what others are going through, we can tell them “I’m praying for you.” I’ve said this many times to others and have just been reminded in my own life that knowing someone else is praying is a great encouragement and boost to the spirit.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

Who can you lift up in prayer this week? Say a prayer and then be sure to let the person know you are praying for them!

So true, Bethany. It is uplifting to know that others are praying for you.
Congratulations…I am so happy for you knowing that an addition to your family has been your heart’s desire.
