Shining my light

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before men so they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven”.
I’m the only Christian in the office where I work and sometimes it’s hard being different than anyone else but God’s faithful – He keeps me going, He keeps me believing in my faith and He’s always there to show me how not to be like everyone else.
While on this earth Jesus was God’s servant and one thing I’ve learned in the two years I’ve been here is that when I do things for others, I’m doing things for God – I’m serving Him by serving others. If one of my colleagues has a meeting with a client I offer to make them a hot or cold drink, if the rubbish bins are full I make time to empty them, if the floor is grubby I try to get the vacuum out to clean it.
People have noticed that there’s something different about me too, for instance I don’t get stressed out easily if I have a heavy workload or when everyone wants something done at the same time and it’s all thanks to God. He’s put such a peace in my heart that I’m happy to be his representative – it’s not me I’m boasting about though, it’s God. And the thing is God knows I’m not perfect, when I do something wrong He picks me up, dusts me off and sets me along His path again and you know what? The people around us and those we meet through life see God is us, in our speech, in our actions and in our lives.
By trying to be a servant like Jesus was we can let our lights shine too!

Oh – it is so true. There are days when everything goes a little wild, but He gives me the strength to keep going, even if I don’t feel like it.
Thank you so much for your encouragement this morning.
Do you notice that the verse says “so they may… praise YOUR Father in heaven”? I never noticed that before… that they will praise God, who is not their God… YET. By our actions, they can glorify God before knowing Him and his tender mercy and love!
That reminds me of the “What I’m 15″ song. I may be one of many who is an example of love and peace in Christ Jesus that others may see. I may be one of the unknown reasons that someone “gives God a try.” Oh, I hope that I can be the example that He needs me to be!
Washing some feet, girl. Washing some feet…
May God continue to be glorified as you shine as his light in this world that needs a good foot washing and a flashlight to guide them on the journey home.

Iris – “I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me” right?
Shalee – exactly, it’s all by our actions and speech.
Elaine – dead right girl, it’s almost as if we are washing feet.
Thanks for your comments
Thanks for letting your light shine brightly.
I can relate and appreciate you sharing! I am one of the few believers in the coalition I am the ED for and it has been such a challenge but God continues to provide His covering and protection, praise Him! I stay prayered up [before work/meetings, during work/meetings, after work/meetings] and He is always faithful to provide the strength and the patience and the courage to get through it all, praise Him! Keep on pressing on sistah!
It’s great that you’re silently letting your light shine. I’m sure sooner or later your coworkers are going to want to know what’s different about you.
Thanks for sharing
AMy,
I would have loved to work in the same office as you. I know the struggles you face there and yet you remain determined to serve God and it is true, others will see Him through you.
Blessings my friend.
