For Our Good

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Too many times, when trials come my way I get discouraged. I get down. I get overwhelmed. I wonder why did this happen. Or I think, “Why me?” Then I turn to a verse like Romans 8:28 and I began to explore it. It has so many rich truths for us to soak up. Things that happen in our lives are not just by accident. God has reasons, though we may not know them, we are to trust Him. That can be easier said than done a lot in my life.

When we love God with our whole heart He guides us. When we try to serve Him in every way we can and we are obedient to His Word, we can rest assured that He has a reason for the things that happen. He is working all things out for the good of those who love Him and those who are the called. That is pretty amazing! If we are born again we are the called. We are called of God to fulfill His purpose, which is to worship, trust, and obey Him.

When I am in the midst of a trial or struggle I can never see the full picture or what God is trying to do. It’s often when I have come through the trial that I can look back and say, “Lord, I see it all now”. I still may not understand, but I can see the picture He was painting. I can then thank Him for His mercy and compassion towards me.

You may not understand things that happen, but you aren’t called to understand them. You’re called to love God. He has a purpose for you. He has set forth a purpose for each one of us and desires we fulfill it. That amazes me! He did not just make me so I can sit idly, but He has a purpose for me to fulfill so He can fulfill me. God wants us to be fulfilled through Him. He is such a good God! When we allow Him to bring us through trials and struggles, then we are allowing Him to make us a little more like Him each time. That is something I don’t deserve, but He loves me so.I cannot thank Him enough.

So when life gets a little crazy or hard, just remember that the Creator of the universe wants to work through you and He wants to draw you closer to Him. Let Him do His work and embrace Him. Let Him move through you and mold you. It’s not easy and not always fun, but the outcome is well worth the pain.

Lord, thank You for loving me enough to work out all things for my good. You alone know what is best for me, so help me to trust You. Thank You for being a just God. Help me to be fulfilled only by You. May I be filled with Your Spirit and walk in the freedom you have given me. Thank You for calling me to be Your Daughter. In Jesus’ name Amen.

So true, Heather. Sometimes it is hard to see they why. But we need to trust that He will be with us, no matter what.
