God is Unstoppable

Unstoppable: impossible to stop or prevent; indomitable, unbeatable; invincible, supreme

When I first considered this attribute of God it just made me smile. I worship the one true living God who is unstoppable, unbeatable, invincible. Not only is He unstoppable, He is unchangeable confirming that never ever can He be stopped. No power, no scheme, nothing in Heaven or on earth can stop Almighty God. What do we as His children face that makes this so important? We face an enemy. God’s Word states in John 10:10 that Satan is like a thief whose purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus then states “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

In Psalm 57:2 (NLT) we read, I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.” One little sentence with so much to tell us. “God Most High” is a title given to God many times in Scripture. Psalm 83:18b (NLT) “…you alone are called the Lord, you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth.”  What does this mean for us? We find the answer in Scripture, Psalm 91:9-11 (NLT)  “If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.” Victory. Protection. Peace.

Then we read that “God will fulfill His purpose for me.” In Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) we read, “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” This is a promise. When God says “I will” we can be sure that He does for He cannot lie and He keeps His promises. Nothing can hold back His promises to us.  They are unstoppable. Psalm 145:13(NLT) For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The Lord always keeps his promises; He is gracious in all he does.”

Still another aspect of God is that He is invincible.  In every battle He is the victor. He is unbeatable. The enemy will attack, but cannot stand against our God who is unstoppable. Psalm 24:8 (NLT) Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle.” And in Exodus 14:14 (NLT) we receive this instruction, “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Through experience I have learned that there are many battles in life that promise defeat when I try to face them in my own strength. The Scriptures do not instruct me to fight, but to stand firm, stay calm and trust God who is invincible to fight the battle. The power of God has claimed victory over sin and death. Jesus shed His blood on the cross for our sin and the tomb is empty.  Truly He is unstoppable.

In the last chapter of the book of Job, after God reveals His power Job declares “I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.” Job 42:2 (NLT)

Why is God unstoppable? Because He loves you.  Be filled with peace and joy as you consider our God, Most High, who keeps His promises, fulfills His purposes, is mighty in battle, will never leave or forsake you and loves you with an eternal love that is unstoppable.

Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever. Psalms 136:26
