Having a Meltdown?

“My soul melts with heaviness,

Strengthen me according to Your word.”

Psalm 119:28

Has your soul ever felt heavy? Mine has. Sometimes the pressures of life build up and press in on us to the point that we want to cry out like David did, “My soul melts.” For women that melting soul often flows out in the form of tears; liquid words too tender to speak. They come from the innermost place of the heart.

I like that David didn’t dwell there, standing in a puddle of his melted soul, instead he moved on before discouragement took hold.

“Strengthen me according to Your word.”

He was wise to change his focus before he found himself drowning in the heaviness. Where did his focus go? Who did he turn to?

David knew there was only one place to go, and only One who could strengthen him and that was God. His word is filled with promises to help us in every situation we encounter. Our tears matter to Him. He hears each silent word spoken as they run down our cheeks carrying messages from the heart.

Life is heavy sometimes and meltdowns happen. When they do, hope and strength can be found in the comforting words of our loving Heavenly Father who is waiting to receive us with open arms and catch every tear.

Thank you for the encouraging words, Charlotte. My heart is heavy often lately, but it is comforting to know that He hears me and is with me all the time.
