Heard and Answered

“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. ”  Ps. 34:4

Lately I see so many people expressing frustration and fear about our current world situation.  Quite truthfully, I have expressed similar feelings. What used to seem like a more stable world,  seems to be turning more to chaos and tumult.

So many illnesses and hurts that people are fighting.  Such hatred, intolerance and mistrust.  The outright persecution of the church.  The list is endless,  of reasons that  a person may feel disquieted, worried and stressed.

During my personal devotion yesterday the Lord spoke this verse to my heart.  I read it.  I re-read it.  I rehearsed it throughout the day.  I allowed it to soak into the deep recesses of my troubled mind and soul.  Then today a dear friend shared this verse  on social media.  Oh, how I love confirmation!  He makes me feel so watched over and loved!

With all that is going on, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain where to even begin.  But this verse offers the direction and the solution.  When I am overwrought with care,  I must seek the Lord.  I must search Him out.  I must fervently long for him. He must become my top priority and pursuit.  I simply have to bury my nose in the Bible and linger in my prayer room.  Nothing else is more important.

And when I do this seeking…He answers me.  Just as He did with this verse in my quiet time.  He is not a God who is far off and aloof from His children.  No!  He is the Father sitting patiently in the living room of your heart, waiting on you to come to Him and talk about your plans for the day.  And then He offers advice.    He walks gently beside you through life, whispering direction and encouragement.  He is a personal God!

He answers me.. and delivers me from ALL my fears.  Oh, thank you, Jesus!  I am so grateful that my fears do not have to be lifelong.  He delivers me.  Perhaps not from the situations I fear, but from the emotion of fear that paralyzes,  and from the strain of fear that vexes my soul.  From the torment that is borne of fear.  He delivers me from all of that.

Are you struggling with fears and uncertainty? Friend, seek the Lord!  Then await His answer.  He is your deliverer.  Your shield.  Your strong tower.  Run to Him! Nestle your head in the bosom of the One who formed you and guards so carefully over you.  You are not alone!  You are in the palm of His hand!

Dear Lord, I pray for anyone facing stresses, fears or phobias of any kind.  I lift people who are ill with physical or mental malady before You, the Great Physician.  Extend your hand to heal, O God!  Wrap Your loving arms around the weak and sustain them.  You, O Lord, are our Source and sure Deliverer from all of our fears!  In Jesus’ Name!  Amen.
