I Am Yours

“I am your. I am yours. All my days, Jesus, I am yours.” *

The words echoed through the large rehearsal room – words that touched my heart so deeply I could barely sing. They reminded me that no matter what came into my life – whether good times or suffering – Jesus would never leave me. Amazing love.

But then, as so often happens, an accusing voice whispered into the corner of my heart:

“What about the times you’ve left Him? What about those seasons of rebellion, when you went your own way? And while we’re at it, what about the times you willfully sinned? Were you still His when you failed so miserably? Is your divided heart truly His?”

Suddenly the joy evaporated. Guilt and shame took its place. I carried it with me for a while – talked it over with the Lord.

“I don’t want to stand before You and sing words that aren’t true. Am I truly yours or have I reserved something for myself?”

Heaven was silent.

After days of rain and biting wind, there came a day of clear blue skies. I walked in the warmth of the sun and heard a gentle whisper.

“Yes, you are Mine. You belonged to Me before you ever took your first breath. I have inscribed your name on the palm of My hand – a permanent reminder of My love for you. When you surrendered your heart – at that very moment – I wrote your name in My book. I will never erase it.”

I am His. Even when I fall far short of what I want to be, I am His. Alway His.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:28-29

Blessings,

Linda

Amen to that Linda. The accuser likes to whisper those words into our hearts; starting to doubt that we are really His. But we are, even in the years of rebellion. Thank you for the reminder, my sweet friend!
