Immovable

“And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.” ` 1 John 5:14-15 (NLT)

The movie The War Room has created a buzz around the Christian community. I have not seen the movie yet, but I hear it is powerful in a sense that it has changed many people’s prayer life.

I do pray, but it is more sporadic. I do not have a set time when I pray. At work I have a little prayer journal that I use at times of distress. I pray in my car when I have a heavy heart. I do know of women that actually set a time for prayer and are faithfully connection to God through prayer.

Does it mean that I don’t believe in prayer or that they are effective? By no means! But often times I get discouraged because I do not see an answer to my prayer. Or the answer to my prayer is not what I was hoping for. Maybe I am the only one who stops praying about certain matters.

To tell you the truth, yesterday morning I was completely discouraged and had not so good attitude toward my day. However, the first thing I did was sending a prayer request to my BFF. She truly is a prayer warrior. She puts on His armor to pray.

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” Ephesians 6:10-12 (NTL)

Little did I know what God had in store for me. You see, I subscribe to several YouTube channels. One of them is hosted by Kim Cash Tate. I received a notification via email about her latest video. And guess what! Kim was talking about prayer. She talked about 5 points of being immovable in prayer. One of the points hit my heart deeply. The enemy is trying to distract us from prayer. He fears that we will make a difference with our prayers. He tries to distract us, discourage us, deflate us.

I have to reevaluate my prayer life. Yes, I believe that prayer works. I have to be immovable in my prayers.

Lord of mercy and grace. This morning I am asking for Your strength to be immovable in my prayer life. Help me to trust that You will answer my prayers in Your time. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen

oh Iris … go see the movie! It will encourage you, it will propel you into a new level of fighting (thru prayer). Often times it seems like God must not be listening, but one line in the movie that really spoke to me was “you are not fighting right”. God always answers, maybe not how we like but a “yes”, a “no”, a “not now” is still an answer. 🙂 love you.

I think you’ll love War Room, Iris. It really encouraged me in prayer also. I get discouraged also when it seems as if my prayers aren’t being answered but I always remember my grandmother saying, “can you imagine if we weren’t praying?”
