Jesus is Lord

As I walked to my car after Ladies Bible Study, my heart was heavy with the many prayer requests for family members and friends battling disease, coping with sorrow and navigating life’s transitions. Jesus is Lord the theme of our study echoed in my mind. I switched on the car radio to catch the weather and the moment I heard a woman with a British accent speaking, I knew something was wrong but what? It would be reported there had been an terrorist attack in Manchester, England.  Not again!  My heart ached for the families of those who were killed, for those who were injured and for the emergency workers who will see things no one is ever supposed to see. I whispered a prayer. Jesus is Lord over the nations was tonight’s discussion. Frank Moore in his book Jesus is Lord, the cry of a kingdom citizen states:

“When we make the seemingly odd obversation that Christ is currently Lord of the nations of this world and all humanity, we do so through eyes of faith. We believe that what happened in the spiritual realm when Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead will one day make an appearance in the physical realm for everyone on the earth to see.”

A similar thought was spoken by the General Superintendent at Metro New York Church of the Nazarene’s District Assembly last week  “Today we do not fight for victory. Jesus won the battle. We fight from the victory.”  It is an important thing to remember – Jesus paid the price. It is finished!

“5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11 NIV
