May God Bless the USA!

As I think about the festivities that will go on this weekend as we celebrate the birth of America , I cannot help but think of the recent reports that we have heard being handed down from the Supreme Court. For many Americans, many Christians, we feel let down. We feel discouraged that the land that was founded on “In God we trust”, seemingly is being taken from us. The freedom that once was, has taken on a new meaning.

Have you ever just looked at the American flag and thought about what it stands for?

The Red, White and Blue represents an emblem of the greatest nation on the earth. For centuries, it has been carried through battles; it has been placed on the graves of many of the honored dead who fought for the right for us to remain a free nation; and the Red, White and Blue flies high during peace times as well as times of war. “Old Glory” is it’s name, but pride has always been how we have worn her.

The Supreme Court can change laws and take away freedoms, but nothing they say or do can change what my flag means to me. The sacrifice of my father, my step father, my father in law and my son makes my pride and my freedom run deep. Deeper than any congressman.

Not only that, but there is another real kind of freedom and pride that I have. It is the kind that I don’t need a special holiday to remember it, I can display it every single day of the year – it is the freedom that I have in Christ. This freedom that runs deep in my spirit and heart can never be taken from me…

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.” – Romans 8:2

This weekend, as you attend your picnics and parades and cook-outs, will you take a good look at the Red, White and Blue that is flown high and remember the sacrifice and the freedoms, but then thank God for the freedom that Jesus Christ gives us.

“In Him, We live, we move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28a) and NO-ONE can take that away from us!

MAY GOD BLESS THE USA!
