At Just The Right Time

“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us, sinners.”  Romans 5:6

There are times, when we are reading God’s word, that a verse will just “pop” out at us.  This verse did just that for me.  It is a beautiful, loving verse about a Savior coming to rescue us, but it was this portion that pierced my heart – “…at just the right time…”

Jesus came at just the right time.  Surely there were other times in the history of the nation of  Israel when they thought it was the right time for Him to come.  Imagine them during the time of their captivity, longing for the Messiah to come and set them free.  Think of four hundred years of silence between the Old and New Testaments.  How they must have longed for just a word from the Lord, but the heavens remained closed.  They couldn’t know that the Father was working out His perfect plan.

At just the right time the silence was broken by a baby’s tiny cry.  The promise, given in the garden, was at last fulfilled.  It was the Father’s perfect timing.

There are some things in my life, desperate needs, that I have prayed about for such a long time.  Heaven seems so silent and discouragement often sets in.  It is hard to wait.

However, this little verse reminds me that the Father hears my prayers, knows my needs and has a perfect plan.  When I look at scripture, I see His plan of salvation unfold with such perfect timing.  Will He do any less in our lives?  He has promised to work all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).  He has not promised to do it in our time or in our way, but He will never fail to do what is best for us.

We can wait with great hope and expectation.

“I am praying to You because I know You will answer, O God.  Bend down and listen as I pray.”

Psalm 17: 6

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.”  Psalm 62:5

Blessings,

Linda

Oh yes, the waiting is often hard and sometimes we give up on our prayers. But like you said, His timing is always perfect.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us today.

Growing up our pastor used to say, “He may not come when you want Him, but He’s always right on time.” This post reminds me of that truth, and makes me smile!

His timing is always perfect. But we just don’t have His eyes. Be patient with yourself in this impatience, Linda. He understands.

Beautiful post Linda!! It can often be hard to ‘wait’. But knowing all things will come in HIS perfect timing helps that ‘wait’! You are so right… “we can wait with great hope and expectation.”

Lovely post, I love that part of the verse where it says “at just the right time” also. It encourages me to know that no matter what is going on in my life, at just the right time He’ll intervene.

Wow, I love that!!! I’m going to have to mark that phrase “At just the right time” in my Bible as a reminder. Thanks!
