In His Presence

Recently I was away from home and wanted to spend a few minutes in God’s word.  However there were too many distractions.  No matter how much I tried I kept getting distracted and even a little frustrated because I wanted to get my daily bread which I can only get from reading the word of God.  Finally I discovered a quiet spot and with my Bible and notebook settled down to spend some quiet time in the word of God.

As I read I found myself in one of my favorite books.  (I can’t seem to close my Bible without stopping in and gleaning some wisdom form the book of Psalm.)  For some reason this day just a portion of a verse stood out to me.

A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! Psalm 84:10

In my humble opinion there is no one who expresses love for God quite like David.  What is one day compared to a thousand?  Yet to David a single day in God’s presence is better than a thousand anywhere else.   What exactly is it that makes the house of God so desirable, so attractive to David?

It’s quite simple…

You find love, joy, peace and comfort in His presence.

As you enter his presence he draws you into His embrace.

In His presence there is no for fear, sadness or despair because,

when you enter His presence they have to leave.

His presence is a place of quiet worship or uncontrollable praise.

His presence is where you meet with Him and share the innermost secrets of your heart and then listen to what He has to say to you.

In His presence we find the answers to every question we can ever think to ask.

What does a thousand days have to compare to one day with the Lord?  I can’t think of a single thing.

It’s no wonder that the enemy tries to keep us from spending time with Him.  In His presence we find the strategies we need to overcome him.

I’m with you Bernadine, I love those Psalms, the heart of the Bible. No matter what mood you are in, what you are feeling, you will find a Psalm to match it. Isn’t it wonderful that we have a God who we can go to with all of our feelings? Thanks for the great post.

Bernadine, I love this! You hit on one of my favorite subjects (the presence of GOD and time with Him and His Word) and from the perspective of one of my favorite biblical persons (David).

Thank you for your constant encouragement to draw closer to HIM.

    Much love.

Amen to that Bernadine. I too find myself most often gleaning from David’s wisdom in the Psalms. In His presence we can find peace and comfort.

    Hi Bernadine,

The Bible verse you quoted, is one I know, but after reading it tonight it was like I was reading it for the first time, understanding the meaning of it, and how beautiful it is. This post is a blessing.
    God bless,

    Hi Bernadine,

I love your post. It is so true. It is better to be in God’s presence for 1 day than a thousand elsewhere. I, like you, love the Psalms. So comforting. And yes David truly loved the Lord. I aspire to love Him just as much.

    Blessings,
    Judy

Thanks for this post, there is nothing fulfilling but the Presence of God. Every time I meditate on the sufferings of Christ and the great price he paid to reconcile us to our Father, im consumed with Love!
