RESURRECTION DAY — EASTER SUNRISE

“Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.  But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.  Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.  And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.  Then as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!  Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying  ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise      again. ’ ”   And they remembered His words.     Luke 24:1-8    NKJV

For the past several years our church has celebrated Easter morning with a sunrise service  in the parking lot on the East side of the church facing the cemetery, for the best view of the rising of the sun.

We gather in the semi-darkness, there is such electricity and expectancy in the air as we look toward the Eastern sky for our first glimpse of the sun.

As we are singing  praise and worship to God Almighty, the sky begins to turn a glorious color when the sun  begins to peek over the horizon.  Everyone becomes so  increasingly aware of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the tomb as  the Holy Spirit surrounds each worshiper with His presence.

The sun rises higher in the sky its’ rays shine through the trees beyond the cemetery.  The light  from the growing brilliance of the sun bounces off the tree branches and becomes a glorious sight.  The trees sway in the slight breeze,  there are birds singing,  a dog is  barking from a nearby home, the whole earth is waking up on this day.

THIS GLORIOUS RESURRECTION DAY OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD!!

He is Alive for evermore, and is coming back one day for those who look for Him, and have made Him their Lord and Savior.

Blessings, Gloria

Amen! Our church also gathers for a sunrise service every Easter morning. It is one of my favorite services each year!
