Slow Progress

Recently I started working on an old project that I had abandoned. When I first pulled it out again it took me a while to familiarize myself with it again and begin to move forward.

I eventually got to a place where I felt excited about it again.  I began to make progress and envisioned a finished product.  Every day I was excited to get started as I discarded old ideas that didn’t fit and came up with new ones that did.

Just as I was getting to a place where I felt I was comfortable with my progress and the pace that I was moving at I got some news that slowed my momentum. In fact, it brought everything to a screeching halt.

I tried to will myself to make it happen but the ideas just seemed to have dried up.  For a moment I was tempted to quit again. The project now seemed huge and my enthusiasm almost none existent.

It got me to thinking. Why is it so easy to throw in the towel when the going gets tough? Life will never be totally problem free.  There will always be news and events that knocks you off your feet.  However, we have to be able to keep moving and performing in spite of difficulties.

So I reminded myself,

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

I picked up project and started working again.  I reminded myself that slow progress is better than no progress at all.

I’m so thankful that He is always there when we call on Him.  He will give us the strength that we need to persevere when the going gets tough.

You are right; I often feel like to throw in the towel when the going gets tough. Thank you for the reminder that we ought to go to Him when we need extra strength.

I have been in a self prove that for a while now… A project of me… I don’t know how many times the ideology to throw the towel comes to my mind… In our times of darkness, hurt, disappointment, heartache, and lonliness these are all slow times… Not to often long ago, the LORD got my attention telling me to be still & know HE is in Charge.
Although I know HE is with me… Lonliness can be super difficult…. So I try hold to HIS every steady Hand and Lean on HIM & HIS Word!! Thank you for these posts
