The King is Coming

O the King is coming,
The King is coming!
I just heard the trumpets sounding,
And now His face I see,
O the King is coming,
The King is coming!
Praise God, He’s coming for me!

The King is coming, The King is coming…The lyrics of this song has been running through my mind lately. When I listen to it, I can envision the scene in my mind. I can almost hear the triumphant sound of the trumpet that signals the return of Christ. I can picture his radiant face. I know it’s not a Christmas song but I think these types of songs come to mind more often at the end of the year when the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season starts. The time that leads up to the celebration of the first coming of Jesus Christ.

I love this time of year. It still fills me with wonder when I reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. The fact that Jesus Christ left the splendor of heaven, came to earth and was born in a manger just for you and me. That is reason enough to be joyful and thankful during the holidays.

I don’t know about you but sometimes when I think about the first coming I long for the second. It’s not that I’m in a hurry because there is so much that I look forward to so much that I want to accomplish. Above all, I want to do the things that please Him. I want to know that when my work on earth has been suspended and His face I see that he will be pleased with me.

Some days I am in hurry to see Him, but then again I hope that when He does come for me, I hope that He is pleased with me.
