The Reason

I’ve seen the phrase “Jesus is the reason for the season” for many years during December. I’ve always liked this reminder on signs and pins. But what about after December 25? A day anticipated by many is now over. So much time, money, and preparations are involved, and it’s already over for another year. What happens the next day?

Good news! Jesus is still the reason for the season. He is the reason for every day and every season. We remember His birth as we celebrate Christmas. We give thanks that He came as a baby. But the celebration doesn’t have to stop just because December 25 is past! We should live in celebration and joy daily for this wonderful gift we have received.

As you are putting away the decorations, don’t pack away the joy in your heart that you’ve felt this season. Continue to find ways to share that joy with others. As you prepare for a new year, take with you the hope of Jesus’ birth and let others know why you have hope. As you use your new gifts, use them as a reminder to continue loving and giving to those around you. Don’t let the joy, hope, love, and generosity end now that one particular day is over. Don’t make only the Christmas season be about Jesus. As Christians we have a reason for celebrating everyday.

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’ ” Luke 2:10, 11

Live today with joy in your heart and don’t forget the Good News of the Reason for each day.
