How Do You Witness?

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)

Over centuries, men of Christ have been sharing the Gospel with millions of people. The first Century church grew in leaps, because the apostles did not care about their own life; they wanted all to know that Christ died for all, taken their sin.

In the 1600 and 1700 hundreds, men like Martin Luther and John Wesley, shared the Gospel with commoners in Europe, proclaiming the Good News of Christ’s sacrifice. In more current years, men like Billy Graham and Greg Laurie filled stadiums to share with people the hope that is found in Christ.

My Coffee CupBut how do you personally witness? As for me, I am not one to be out on the street, handing out Gospel tracks. I even haven’t gone on mission trips, like some of my co-writers here on Laced with Grace. However, God also called me to witness to the ones that don’t know Him yet. How do I do it? Within every day life, I hope.

You see, not all of us are outspoken like the great evangelist or missionaries. We work within corporate America, or we are stay-at-home moms. But nonetheless, we are called to give hope to the hopeless.

Several weeks ago, I purchased a tumbler at my church. I was so excited when my church offered this drink vessel. If you know me, I am a little addicted to Starbucks coffee. I get a green-coffee-refresher every morning before heading to work. This tumbler is my silent witness. You see, it has my favorite verse on it (Ephesians 2:8). I know that all the people at my local Starbucks have read the verse, and I hope that one day one of them will ask me about it.

But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. (1 Peter 3:14-16 ESV)

Lord of Heaven and Earth. You know my love I have for You. Your grace is amazing and I am very thankful that You give me hope daily. I pray that one day one of the people I come I contact with will ask about the hope I have. I know that hope, peace and strength can only be found with You. May you give me the words that will lead others to You. In the precious name of my Lord and Savior, in the name of Jesus – Amen!
