Right Spirit-Right Heart-Strong Heart
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Psalm 51:9-11
I cannot tell you how many times I have prayed this prayer– “Create in me a clean heart”… And, “ReNEW a right spirit within me”….
Just last night, riding home from Bible Study with the “teacher” of all people–and here I lament about a situation in my life and in the middle of it–realized–I need RIGHT SPIRIT. So I immediately said that was what was wrong– “I had the wrong attitude-spirit and I needed God to make it right”.
I’ve come to realize there are a LOT of things I cannot change–but I CAN allow God to change me. The problem is–when we get stuck in the wrong attitude and bad spirit. Then our character and personality is in danger….
I pray–with all my heart–that God continues to convict me when I begin to teeter toward a wrong attitude or spirit and that He guides me with grace and mercy back to the right way of thinking…
