Not always Popular

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” ~ Matthew 16 16:24-28 (ESV)

Over the last month I have digi-scrapped a lot – I mean a LOT. With digi-scrapping you have online communities you share your layouts with. Not only do I like to share my pictures with others, but I also see it as a way to share my faith. I would say that about 75% of my layouts have either a Bible verse or a quote that references God. That is not always popular.

How do I know? Well, although I am not a Picasso or Van Gogh, my layouts are nice (okay maybe I am partial 😉 ). You see, people are allowed to comment on your layouts. Some comments read “nice”, “oh what a pretty picture”. I know that those comments come from people who do not yet believe in the Truth. But then again, that is up to Him to change their hearts…

There are many ways we can share our faith. Not only on Sundays when we go to worship and are surrounded by other believers–that is the easy part. It is a little harder to live out our faith during the week, isn’t it? Not everyone agrees with our views, how we act or what we say. I run into this every day at work. But to be honest–I don’t mind. I rather be ‘popular’ in the eyes of my Savior, than with the world.

Jesus told His disciples “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”. Although I might not be ‘commonly liked or approved’, I rather follow Him than loose my life.

Lord of Heaven and Earth. Help me to keep my focus in my every day life. Lord, I do not want to loose sight of You and Your promise. Although it might not be easy to live out my faith, I know that Your Spirit will help me to stay focused on the important things. Lord, thank You that I am popular in Your eyes. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen.

Blessings on your day and as always…

I think your layouts are beautiful Iris. It’s great that you use them as a way to share your faith. Isn’t it amazing the creative ways we can find to share our faith if we really put our minds to it?

I love what you share with us! Your layouts-pictures are great….I have no talent for this…thanks for our peek into God’s blessings into your lives in this way.
As long as what we do is popular in heaven….then nothing else matters….love you Iris!

“I rather be ‘popular’ in the eyes of my Savior, than with the world.”

    Amen!

I wish I could reach out and make a difference in others they way you do. You always seem to have the perfect way to get a point across in “normal” language (meaning, talking down to Earth and not in terms I don’t understand).
