Breathe on us,Lord

Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.   Ezekiel 37:9-10

I don’t know about y’all,but I love music. I absolutely love it. Today there are so many more Christian artists and lots of encouraging,inspiring,and uplifting music out there. It can be used to minister to our souls in such a powerful way. One of my favorite artists is Chris Tomlin,also known as the world’s worship leader, because of his resonating voice and lyrics that reach nations. He seems to be a humble man and there is no doubt that he is anointed by God’s Spirit.

I love the song on his Burning Lights cd called Awake My Soul. In the middle of it another artist recites part of Ezekiel 37 where God is telling Ezekiel to prophesy to the valley of dry bones. I actually was listening and watching the video of it today as I washed dishes.

Then He said to me,
Prophesy to these bones and say to them,
Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!
This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones,
I will make breath into you,
And you will come to life.
So I prophesied as I was commanded.
As I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound,
And the bones came together, bone to bone.
And I looked, and tendons and the flesh appeared on them,
And skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
Then He said to me,
Prophesy to the breath,
Prophesy, son of man, and say to it,
Come from four winds, oh breath, and breath.

When the man began reciting Ezekiel 37 I just broke. Tears started flooding and I could do nothing but cry. Sometimes I feel dry,don’t you sweet friend? And it that just what God wants to do in us,breath life! He wants to breath His eternal life into us. He loves to breath on us,to rejuvenate us,to stand us back up. He knows if we are dry we are of no use to Him,but when we are dry He also knows that He can put His breath in us and lives will be changed.

I don’t want to be dry bones. I don’t want to be one that brings others down. I have life everlasting that I can tell others about. I can encourage others to go to the well that never runs dry. I need Him to breath on me so I can be refreshed and be the light He wants me to be. Don’t you? I think we all do. We are called to be salt and light. If we are dry,we won’t be very salty. Ever tried a stale,dry cracker? It isn’t very good is it? Neither are we,as Christians, if we are not alive and fresh with the Spirit of the Living God.

I also thought about the chorus to the song :

How many of us need God to awake our souls? We get down trodden and low with all that life throws at us. We need our souls to be awakened to spiritual matters by the Spirit of God. Our souls need to awakened and be seeking the things of God,the eternal things. We get caught up in the earthly matters and I am just as bad as anyone else about it. BUT we need or spirits awakened to the eternal perspective on life. We are alive for one purpose: to bring honor and glory to our God and King!

We come alive when we apply God’s Word to our life. We need that Word. It is our lifeline and our livelihood. God’s Word is so powerful and active. How can we read it and soak it up without coming to life? When we feel down,grab the Word and read it,meditate on it. I have too or I will not make it daily. I’ve said before I am very weak and I need Jesus every second of the day. He is my source of anything I do that is good and pleasing to my God.

I am broken when I see others who are dry or dead (spiritually speaking) and they have no hope. They live from one material thing to the next. All the while I have something that can bring them life! God longs to see those people who have yet to drink from His well to come and drink. Won’t you encourage someone today? Let’s take a minute to pray.

Lord, thank You for being the giver of life. Thank You for breathing on us when we are dry. Thank You for awakening us to things that truly matter. Help us to stay focused on Your will and on Your face throughout our day. We need You everyday. Every minute. Every second. Help us to always call on Your name and be open to what You want to do in our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.
