Everyday is a Day of Thanksgiving
I was listening to some music today when the song Everyday is a Day of Thanksgiving came on. The chorus of the song said,
Everyday is a day of thanksgiving.
God has been so good to me.
Everyday He’s blessing me.
Everyday is a day of thanksgiving:
Take the time to glorify the Lord today…
As I sang along with the song I was reminded of a New Year’s resolution I had made a few years ago.
It was just a few hours before the year came to a close in 2009 that I made a New Year’s resolution which was simply to journal everyday during the year 2010. It may seem a easy enough task but while I love writing I’m terrible at keeping a daily writing schedule. However I decided that if I only wrote one sentence I would write every day. The theme of my journal was A Year of Thankfulness.
I pulled out the journal after listening to the song and started to skim through it. I smiled as I read because some days I wrote one short sentence that may have said, thank you Lord for the gift of life, or thank you Lord that I made it through the day or something similar. Those were probably the days I struggled with being thankful.
Then there were the days when I was really inspired and the list of things I was thankful for was extra long.
However, whether it was a long entry or something short and to the point I found something each day to record in my journal that I was thankful for. Reading over those entries was a reminder to me of how very much I have to be grateful for.
I haven’t kept a written journal on thankfulness since that year but maybe I’ll start it up again. I know I don’t need a keep a journal to list the ways I’m thankful to God but sometimes it’s nice to have a written reminder of God’s many blessings. I’m always grateful that David wrote his thoughts on paper because I always find inspiration in the Psalms. I love how David found the motivation to praise God in every circumstance.
I love this Psalm that says
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and sing praises to Your name, O Most High. 2 It is good to tell of Your loving-kindness in the morning, and of how faithful You are at night, 3 with harps, and with music of praise. Psalm 92:1-3
Today I thankful for words that inspire many years later…
What are you thankful for today?
- The Time In Between
- What to Do When Life Gets Hard
Amen, beautiful.
So true Bernadine. There is always something to be thankful for each and every day. No matter the circumstances or the challenges we encounter today, He is with us all the way and that my friend, I am thankful for.

How nice to go back to look back and read through your thankful journal and the reminder that was of God’s blessings. Such a good idea to have a thankful journal!
Spot on with this write-up, I seriously think this excellent website needs considerably more consideration. I’ll likely to end up again to see much more, appreciate your that info.
