Is it Worth it?
It was the first time I had been on a flight that long. The eight hour journey that signified the second to the last leg of my trip seemed never ending. I chit chatted a bit with my seatmate, read, ate, slept, got up and stretched and watched the hour hand on my watch slowly count off the hours.
It wasn’t the most comfortable way to spend eight hours of my life but somehow, the excitement of where I was going, and knowing the exact length of the trip, sustained me throughout the long journey.
Sometimes I wish my Christian journey was that simple. I know what’s at the end of the journey but I have absolutely no idea how long the journey is. So sometimes because of the length I admit sometimes I wonder, is it worth it?
The hurt, the wounds inflicted by those you feel should know better…
The times you feel like God is far, far away and you need him right away…
The not understanding the thoughts and ways of this God you’ve given your heart to…
Is it really worth it?
In one word yes!
It may seem overly simplistic but, yes, it is worth it.
While, the journey isn’t always as smooth as we wish it would be we have His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us. We have the assurance that we are loved by God and that He has gone to prepare a place for us and will come back for us so we can be with him always.
The knowing that should I go the distance, my reward is forever with Jesus makes up for the not knowing when it’s going to happen.
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3
After something bad happens, I always ask God how He’s going to turn the situation around, bring good and redemption. He doesn’t answer me, but it feels good to know that He’s working it out on my behalf.

Yes, the journey this side of heaven is not simple or without heartaches. But God has placed people in our lives that encourage us; people like you!
