A Firm Faith

For this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith. For now we live, if you are standing fast in the Lord.

(1 Thessalonians 3:7-8 ESV)

A few weeks ago, our pastor shared a sermon on the above Scripture that really spoke to me. What does it mean to have a firm faith? He taught in detail on three points that I wanted to share with you.

First, a firm faith anchors your life. Faith becomes the foundation and formation in which your life in Christ is shaped.

Second, a firm faith encourages other believers. Our faith that we live out becomes something special to other believers that is unique to the body of Christ. Being transparent, open and honest with one another will allow us to exhort and edify each other. We can further share our faith with fellow Christians through discipleship and teaching. I think of this point especially when preparing to teach a ladies Bible study class or writing a blog post.

Third, a firm faith maintains through struggles. When we face troubles or varies difficulties in life, living out our faith in front of others shows our dedication and determination. This is when we encourage non believers who see how we respond to crisis. They watch. They listen. They take notes.

How firm is your faith? Is it growing and testifying of the goodness of God’s gift of faith? Are you an encouragement to the body of Christ? Do you disciple others or can someone look to you as an example of a godly woman dedicated to growing spiritually? Or are you at a place where you are seeking out godly wisdom from a mature believer? What about your struggles? Do you use your circumstance to bring God glory proving a faithful example to non believers? Any of these areas can help to strengthen your faith and prove to be an encouragement to someone else.

Growing our faith is an important process in spiritual growth. Sometimes it isn’t easy to live out our faith publically. Still, people are taking note and we are always an example. Will your example of faith be positive or negative? How can you grow in your faith today? Stay grounded in God’s word and let it transform you daily and that will help your faith grow abundantly!

Great Word! Reminds me of what I have always heard…”Tell others about Christ…use words if neccesary.” People are watching us and our life will tell them something, it will either have a positive message or a negative one. Its really up to us. God bless!
