The blessing of church family

Last week we had two members of our church pass from this life to their heavenly home. We had been praying for these two individuals for some time and expected they did not have much time left here on earth. On the days of their services the church family provided meals for the grieving family members. Everyone came together to provide the meals and offer support to these two families.

Looking back at the week, I have been thinking how it is such a blessing to have a church family. This is just one example of the love and support that a church family can provide. I’ve heard it said and have wondered myself how people go through a crisis time without a church family’s support. I’ve seen so many times that there was an outpouring of love, and you probably have your own examples. Through the years we’ve had church members bless, love, and encourage our own family as we rejoiced at the birth of our son and mourned our losses due to miscarriage. We lived in different communities, yet from all three congregations we received such needed support.

That is what church families do….they rejoice together and mourn together. They help each other live through the daily life happenings. They are there to love and encourage.  They play and fellowship together. They support each other in the good and the bad.

We see a beautiful example of the church working together as we read of the first church back in a Acts 2:42–47

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Notice they ate together, worshipped together, and took care of each other. Is this what your church family does?

Are you involved with a church family? How has your church family been a blessing to your life?

Have a day of blessings!

Our church has been such a blessing to us.
Surrounding us through prayers & in presence each time our boys were hospitalized, for various reasons.
They collected money, food & grocery store gift cards when we were in need.
When we only had one vehicle they provided us with another.

We have been honored to call them our family.

The church family has been there for me and my family many times over the years…as we have been for others within the body. The church in action is truly the Body of Christ being directed by the Head. I honestly don’t know how people make it thru life’s challenges without this kind of support.

Thank you, Bethany, for being the body of Christ in action to my family over the years. Love you sweet friend.
