When the Wind Shifts

It has been said that you can’t direct the wind, but you can adjust your sail. Truth be told, the wind will always blow, but there is nothing we can do to control it.

I’ve been on the beach before, enjoying a beautiful, calm day when all of a sudden there was a shift in the wind. Suddenly, the wind was so strong that the sand blew around and we had to scurry to hold down our beach chairs and umbrella. There wasn’t much we could do about the wind, but we could secure things so they didn’t blow away.

Sometimes in life, the wind shifts.

We all face storms, difficulties and changes in our life. None of which can be easy but instead of focusing on stopping the wind from blowing, perhaps we can learn how to adjust so that we don’t get blown away.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8,9)

I’m thankful that no matter which way the wind blows in my life that God is in the wind. Change can be uncomfortable at times but God always seems to use my discomfort to change me to be more like Him. God uses even the little inconveniences in my life to draw me to Him; like a traffic jam, an unexpected bill, sickness or conflict with family. Most likely, God is not going to ask me to build an Ark or lay my son on the fire as a burnt offering but He may shift my wind and ask me to witness to someone, or change jobs or give more in the offering.

Where is God leading you? If the wind around you has shifted, trust God Who is the Master of the wind and secure yourself in Him so that you don’t find yourself sitting on sinking sand.

BLESSINGS. Laurie

Thank you so much for this timely post. You are right; maybe the wind is blowing is in different direction. However, we can trust that God is always with us.
