Beautiful In God’s Eye

1 Peter 3:3 (New International Version) Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

It is precisely at this time of year the amazing beauty of a woman becomes apparent.

The colorful packages under the twinkling tree testify to a woman’s love for her family. Christmas cards mailed with affection speak of her thoughtful heart. The delicious aroma of warm cider drifting in to the family room hints of her nurturing soul. All the work and effort preparing for Christmas is a reflection of a woman’s love and godly beauty.

The outward adornment matters little to God. He looks deep inside and smiles when He finds a heart full of love.

Christmas blessings to you, the beautiful women of God!

Oh Lynn this is so wonderful to realize, and very true. Of course there is the potential for her ugliness to come out in the stress and grumpiness, but there is also potential for incredible beauty. What a lovely tribute to Him we can be if we put away our selfish selves and focus on living for His glory. And all those things that need to be done, if we would keep our eyes on Him and remember that we do it because we love our families, then our beauty will shine. 🙂

I had to giggle at Heather’s comment about “stress and grumpiness”….seems like I saw that in myself as I told my husband it was his turn to inflate the air bed for our visiting nephew…because I was just “so darned tired of doing everything” ;0 But I must confess…he did help with stuffing the Christmas CD’s into the envelopes.

Isn’t it amazing how those around us see what we DO while God sees who we are…yet what we do is a reflection of who we are, so they are essentially seeing a reflection of what God sees in us! (Try saying THAT ten times fast!!)

Well, girl — I guess I missed out on one part this Christmas season. I didn’t mail my cards to my friends — instead I used them at the office this year to give to my unbelieving co-workers…

Merry Christmas to you and yours, my dear friend…

This is a wonderful affirmation of our feminine urge to create beauty and harmony in our environment ! Let us carry on, even if the details of what we do are overlooked or unappreciated by others… caught God sees everything! This is a good reminder that we must always “play to an audience of One.”

(You have a gorgeous tree! Is is warm and sunny down there?)
