Here’s Something You Don’t Know About Me
There’s something about me you may not know…order and organization are not my strongest points. And as a time-manager – I would have been fired years ago. I’m pathetic.
Distraction is the first step to my disorder. Just like the mosquito and the bug zapper in the Disney movie “A Bugs Life”, “…but it’s soooo beautiful” I too suffer the consequences of a distracted life.
Last night I cleaned out my closet, attempting to put away my summer clothes to make room for my winter wardrobe. I began with gusto, blouses and Capri’s flying through the air in a ballet of colors. Within seconds, my productivity skidded to a halt as I perused through pictures, old cards, mementos and anything else that stood in my way.
Four excruciatingly-painful hours later my teeny-tiny closet was organized. So, what did I learn in four hours? I learned I CANNOT do this organization thing in my own strength. While reading Colossians this morning I read this:
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. Colossians 1:16
The part that hit me over the head was the last part back there, all things were created by him and for him. This gives me hope. Since He’s the one who created me, He’s the only one who can fix me. Just like an auto mechanic who knows how to fix his car, God put me together, so He knows how to best fix my disorderly-unorganized ways.
I’m definitely going to have to lean on Him for help here. I should have asked for some assistance BEFORE I embarked on a four-hour closet tour last night.
Happy 18th Birthday Meghan! I LOVE YOU Sweetheart!!!

Happy Birthday to your daughter.
Oh distraction is my biggest downfall. Stuff like that happens to me all the time.
And a Happy Birthday to your daughter.

Ha – oh those distractions we face every single day. Although for the most part I am organized, I do get distracted when working on a project. Thank you for the reminder that there is One who can keep us focused 🙂
Great post…distractions many times stand in the way of doing what God has called us to do as well. Whether its cleaning a closet or witnessing to our neighbor. Thanks for reminding us to keep our focus on Him and He will renew our strength. -blessings.
Must be a woman thing. Seems like I’m always starting one project or another before finishing the first one.
What a great thing to remember! I love how God shows us these little reminders in His Word.
Oh Joanne, I can so relate! I’m often as distracted as a squirrel in the middle of the road with a big walnut in her mouth. ; ) (There’s another one for ya, free of charge!)
Loved this.
Happy belated birthday, Meghan.
