Are you peaceful?
“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” I recall singing this song as a child, maybe in an elementary music class. Would you agree with me that sometimes this is not a peaceful time of year? It seems everyone is going so fast in a constant frenzy of activity. And with all the bad things happening all over the world, peace seems so far away.
I’d like you to think what you can do to create a peaceful atmosphere in your little corner of the world, whether at work, in your grocery store, post office, or home. So many people are uptight and frazzled. As Christians this is a good time to make sure we are being lights to those around us through our actions and reactions.
Here are some ideas:
1. Offer cheerful words to cashiers. How many people do they deal with in one shift that are irritable? Be the kind of customer who is cheerful and doesn’t complain.
2. Be patient with fellow drivers. Relax on the road and leave in plenty of time to arrive at your destination so you do not have to rush.
3. Take a time out. Realize when you are doing too much and take some time to stop and relax. I know I can tell when I just need to take a break from my to do list, and this helps me not to become grouchy!
4. Smile and say Merry Christmas to strangers.
5. Sing or hum. I often catch myself humming, and it makes me feel peaceful inside.
6. Make a point to do something fun together as a family…do something without a plan or agenda, just something relaxing like watching a favorite Christmas movie or taking a walk through your neighborhood.
At this notoriously busy time of year, make it a point to spread peace to those around you. If His peace rules in your heart, others will notice.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
Also, be sure to make it a priority to remember the Prince of Peace and ask Him to help you in this.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Dear Bethany, I think that peace and the making a hard and earnest effort to keep peace in our mind and heart is something that is so important especially during these blessed but hurry scurry days before Christmas. I remind myself everyday,”Great peace have they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them.” Psalms 119:165, but it takes daily, some days hourly or even minute to minute reminding myself to be peaceful and have peace, Blessings Gloria Happy Christmas. HE IS THE ONLY REASON FOR THIS SEASON.
