A Tangled Mess

When I was a little girl and would get ready for school or church, the most difficult thing was often brushing my hair…or having my mother brush it.

It tangled easily.  Sleeping, tossing, turning-tangling my hair until the comb snagged and hung up–and it took time and patience to get it smooth.

A few years ago I had a wind chime of a cute-round bird.  She swung in the March winds so much until the strings holding the chimes became knotted and would no longer make the pretty music I loved.  One day I spent some time untangling the knots and as I did, I reflected on how my life seemed like that so often.  A tangled up mess. A tossed and wind-churned-knotted up mess.  It took a while to untangle…

But then–I met Jesus.  Really-truly met Him and allowed Him complete access to the knots that life’s hurricanes had made.  He gently unfolded the heartaches and woes and soon–a few chimes were loosened…then a few more.  I can’t really say today if they are all blowing and chiming freely–because I know He’s still working in my life…but music happens when I worship…chimes are heard when I praise…giving God all the glory for all the good things….and the growth that is taking place.

It still takes patience.  And perseverance…. but the end result will sound glorious to His ears!
