The Reason Jesus Came
10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11 (NKJV)
I looked at the photo for the longest time. I couldn’t tear my eyes away. It was such a touching moment captured with all its sacredness. In the photo, my ten-year-old honorary nephew kneels with his pastor as he makes the life changing decision to give his heart to Christ.
His proud mom told me that she and his dad never pressured him to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord of his life. She simply told him, “If you ever feel the Holy Spirit knocking on the door to your heart, I suggest you answer the door.” Just a few days into this month, he came to her and told her, “Mama, I feel Jesus knocking on my heart.” He told her he wanted to talk to the pastor. His pastor led him to Christ and he was baptized this past week.
Now this Christmas season, he stands forgiven because he accepted the freely given gift of salvation. God gave the gift of His Son and Mason gave the gift of his heart.
10 … I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:8-10 (NIV)
My prayer is that during this Christmas season many people like my young nephew will make the decision to accept the freely given gift of Salvation.
- Christmas is Just the Beginning
- FINDING THE JOY THAT WAS STOLEN
Amen I agree in prayer with you. ?
How awesome that your nephew made this choice.
Wow! What an awesome moment the giving of ones heart to the One who died that we may have a right to the tree of life.
Reminder of what is important during this season.
Thanks for sharing.
