Seek and Find
This week, I was asked the age old question that so many of us have been asking for decades, “How do I Know?” It is where the mind and heart wanders when uncertainty lurks at the door; when we search for answers to our questions in life.
No mistake about it, the one question that I have heard over and over from people who have come to us as pastors is: “How do I know what God wants me to do?” Almost always, the question is asked after someone finds themselves weary in their wait and is wondering if God has even heard their question.
God’s Word clearly says that we are to “ask” and it will be “given”. We are to seek and it will be found:
(Matthew 7:7) “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
In the popular books, “Where’s Waldo” or any other kind of seek and find book, it can be very frustrating to not “find” everything that we are looking for. When I look at these books with my grandchildren, we cannot go on unless we find every item on each page. Likewise, when we are searching in life, we get frustrated when we don’t find what we are looking for.
Thinking back about those seek and find books, I realize that those things that I am looking for are all actually on the page, I just can’t see it at the time. Some things are not for us to see at the moment that we think we should see it. God always has the answer but just like when we lose something, He doesn’t want us to stop looking.
My son lost his class ring one year. He was really upset about it, he spent a lot of his own money on the ring. He looked and looked everywhere for that ring. We tore up the closets and the furniture cushions at the house looking for that thing. After a long search, we just couldn’t find it. We finally gave up. Much time had passed and we quickly forgot about his ring. Until the next year, after the frozen ground thawed, my son’s shop teacher from school pulled into the driveway of the shop and noticed something shiny on the drive, as he got out to investigate, he found it was a class ring with my son’s name engraved on the inside. While we gave up on finding it, God always knew right where it was.
He knows right where you are too today. Whatever you are looking for, just stop a minute and seek God. I’m pretty sure if you will be faithful in your seeking, He will lead you to the very answer that you are looking for.
BLESSINGS. Laurie

Thank you for the reminder to not give up seeking. I think that I often miss what God put right in front of me, because I look too far ahead.
Yes. God knows exactly where we are.
