Nose In the Dirt
As you read this devotion today I am in the midst of experiencing a life-long dream come true. I am at Yellowstone National Park with my family visiting the geysers, surveying the scenery and specifically looking for any and all wildlife I can possibly see. God is so very kind!
A visit to the wilderness, specifically the mountains is special to me. I lived for more than 25 years in Las Vegas, Nevada. I endured a prolonged desert experience. It was hot scorching and the surrounding mountains were bleak, they still are. The only native creatures brave enough to eek out an existence in this wasteland are bugs, lizards, and sparrows. Needless to say, I am excited to see animals and the greenery!
Appreciation for the natural beauty of our world dwells in my spirit. I am expecting to meet my King in the exquisiteness of the mountains where He will delight me with treasures, irreplaceable. I know I will be overwhelmed by the sheer vastness of the park, the colors, sounds, water features, and the wild animals. Filled with awe I will fall to my face in worship. Fall on my face, nose in the dirt, kind of worship. Hopefully during my morning quit time and not out in front of Old Faithful.
Joshua 5: 13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”
14 “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”
Recently my worship life has been rushed or skipped over as I have prayed for others who are in deep need. I have also experience a confusion regarding my immediate future. I am in need of a breakthrough with direction for my ministry this fall.
I continue to faithfully read my bible and studiy but God deserves more. This week He is reminding me to approach, with my face to the ground and ask Him, โWhat message do you have for me, your servant?โ
I am anticipating a renewed spirit of worship to emerge from this getaway. I intend to worship the King, with all humility, and He will make my pathway clear. I will bring home my worship and intend to remain, praising the king, with my nose in the carpet.
O Father, Let me bring this offering of praise, prostrate on the floor. I acclaim Your power, Your splendor, grandeur, Your awesomeness. I ask You to move mountains in my future, take down obstacles that impede the advancement of Your Kingdom and decimate strongholds. I ask all of this and offer you my humble worship in Spirit and in truth. Lord, I ask also You to move in the lives of each reader who stops in here today. See a heart of worship. Compel them to the floor where they will also find breakthroughs, clarity, and be freed from bondage. In Jesus name, amen.

Lynn,
Having never been west of Ohio I didn’t know that about Las Vegas, Nevada. It makes sense though and it also makes sense that Satan would love to use such a place where the only nature is manmade.
I needed this today–I have been in the word but not worshipping fully when I am there. It has been rushed and there has been confusion about the way I am to go. It also gives me hope–here I am surrounded by nature (it is very, very green where we live) but I long for the ocean (we lived there for a few years when first married.) It is the place where I find God and whorship (though a good walk will do it as well. :)) We have an opportunity to go to the ocean next week and I keep expecting God to say no–why would He care about such a thing when I could use that money in so many other places. He may still say no but I am reminded that He gives Good Gifts and He longs for us to be close to Him above all things.
Oh Lynn!! Thank you so much for these words, and this prayer!! God has used you greatly today to speak to my heart.
We have been praying so fervently lately for God’s will to be revealed in our lives as we prepare for the next step in answering His call to full-time ministry. I’ve been asking over and over and over again, “Lord, what do you want me to do?? Whatever you want, I will do it…just give me the answers.”
You so beautifully and passionately reminded me that WORSHIPPING Him is the KEY!! As I lay prostrate today with my nose in the carpet I will worship him with all I am and all I have. That is what he wants from me!!
I am so thankful that you are able to experience His glory and majesty at a new level. Take it all in sweet sister, and then give it back to Him!! Have a wonderful time with your family!!
Hi Lynn, It’s been awhile. What a blessing this was. Makes me want to “get down.” Enjoy the beauty of creation and the Creator, dear sister!
Sweet blessings to you dear Lynn.
Lynn— Sing “Shout To The Lord” in the mountains for, girl….great post- have a wonderful trip!
I pray you have a refreshing, God inspired vacation. Can’t wait to hear about everything when you return friend.
It sounds like you are in a spectacularly beautiful spot. I pray He will meet you there, and as you worship the Creator He will speak to your heart.
Amen!
Blessings to you as you bask in His creation!
Thinking of you with your nose in the dirt makes me want to cry! How great is our God.
I need that clarity that only comes from forehead to the ground.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m getting to this following your vaca. I’m so glad you could get away and enter one of God’s most beautiful places (so I’m told–I haven’t been there either). ๐ Let me know how I can pray for you and your ministry this fall if you would like. Love you. Gretchen
I do hope you had a splendid time away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. It looks so awesome…
I think I am searching for clarify on several things on my own…Thank you for sharing your heart…
Be blessed today and always.
