Thank You Jesus!
Luke 17: 11-19 (NIV)
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
This past week I read about a Hollywood actress/comedian that received an award and in her acceptance speech she made fun of people that thank Jesus for everything. She inspired me to share this with you:
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE UNASHAMED
I’m part of the fellowship of the unashamed.
The die has been cast.
I have stepped over the line.
The decision has been made.
I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ.
I have the Holy Spirit’s Power.
I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.
I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colourless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits or popularity.
I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded.
I now live by faith, lean on His presence, love with patience, live by prayer and labour with power.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough,
my companions are few, my Guide is reliable, and my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deterred, diluted or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won’t give up, shut up, let up, or slow up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up and spoken up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.
I must go till’ He comes, give till’ I drop, preach till’ all know and work till’ He stops me.
And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me.
My banner is clear:
I am part of the ‘Fellowship of the Unashamed.’
The author is said to be an African pastor that was martyred for his faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:16 (NIV) I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
We thank you Jesus because it’s our way of proclaiming our belief in you and what you stand for. We thank you, Jesus because we know that without you we are nothing! We are not ashamed to thank you, Lord. We are not ashamed of the Gospel. May we be like the one leper that came back and gave thanks and praise for your healing. May we shout and give thanks for your grace and mercy! May our banner be clear as we praise your holy name, now and forever. Amen

Amen, amen and amen! I just read that actress’s comments and they literally sickened me. May God have mercy on her, and all whom she represents. Truly. I loved this post.
Oh, thank You Jesus for all that You did for us on the cross that day, and all You’re at work doing in this world right now… for African pastors, American actresses and everyone in between.
Thank You, Thank You Jesus.
You are a living example of this principle, Terri.
Amen! Thank you Terri for this powerful post and the reminder that I should not
“…give up, shut up, let up, or slow up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up and spoken up for the cause of Christ.”
Thank you Terri for such a powerful post, and thank You dear Jesus for all that I am, or ever will be.
Beautiful. So what I needed to read today. Thank you.
Wow Terri,
This is exactly what I needed to read this Sunday morning. Thoughts turned to my new Bible study. I am printing this out and giving each lady a copy.
POWERFUL.
Terri, thanks for this wonderful post. Not ashamed of being his child, his servent, his disciple, his friend, his bride. I am the one being bought by Jesus’s precious life.
That is so awesome, Terri – thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I am too someone who is not ashamed of the Gospel 🙂
Blessings to you and yours.
