Hopeful

Hebrews 6:11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.

Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

What is this hope? What is the hope of every Christian?

Our hope is not the perfect life, every Christian that has dealt with persecution knows that.

Our hope is not that we will be perfectly healthy, there have been plenty of Christian lepers.

Our hope is not that we will be wealthy, Jesus told quite a few stories that negate that idea.

Our hope is not that every relationship wil be happy, any Muslim convert can tell you that.

Our hope is not that we will have everything we want when we want it, it would be dangerous for that to be so.

Our hope is that we, as fellow Christians and receivers of the promise of Jesus Christ, will someday, despite our selves, have a share in the inheritance of Christ. Our hope is that here on Earth we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and protect us. That our Lord will take care of us, providing for us as we need, and blessing us, though not exactly as we want to be blest. We hope for things we have not seen, knowing that He who has promised them is true and good.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Lord, there are so many things that each of us long for, things we do not understand but which we know are part of Your plan. Lord, we place each of these things in Your precious hands today. Lord, we ask that You would renew our hope, remind us of Your plan, and give us this day what we need, and above all Your perfect grace and peace. Lord, be sufficient for today, be our all in all.

Amen to all the hopes you have listed. When I used to work at the church, many people (new Christians) wondered why Christians get sick…Well, God never said that life this side of heaven will be easy…

Thank you Heather for sharing the hope we have in Christ. May we be a light in this dark world…

If everything in this world was easy, would we need Christ? I think not. Troubles help keep our eyes on HIM.
