Listening to the Spirit

1) my internet connection is toast. And I talked to a neighbor and it seems that it’s a neighborhood wide thing with comcast. So I’m enjoying coffee at a local shop with free wireless (and great coffee)

2) having my internet connection be toast brought about a really great experience…

The first night we were without internet my daughter and I headed to a nearby McDonald’s (it was late and the coffee shops were not open – I had to download some homework)

It was about 10 degrees and there was a man who was obviously homeless, just trying to stay warm. He talked to us a little bit (making small talk – he has some sort of cognitive impairment as well). I had an urge – I went to the counter and asked if he came in often to get warm (knowing what I was going to do ahead of time). The clerk apologized and told me that she had been about to get the manager to kick him out…

I said “no!” that’s not what I meant. I told her, “He is an image bearer of God. The “least of these” that Christ was talking about when He said, ‘that which you do for the least of these you do for Me.”

I told her to sell me a gift card – $20. But they only sell $10 or $25. I told her to round it up and to understand that I was doing this in the name of Christ.

When I gave the card to the man, he didn’t trust it. He wanted to see the receipt. I wrot on the receipt that the card was a gfit to him in the name of Christ and let him keep that also.

He looked at me and said, “There are angels everywhere.”

My urging to you all today is, when you feel that nudging…be that angel…

there are angles everywhere.

That was so very sweet of you. One of my Bible emails today was a verse about not turning our eyes away from those in need.

Bless you!! That is what we are called for:) So many people look at the homeless with disgust! Do you think Jesus did? NOT!! Great word today:)

I love stories like this. What a blessing to be used in that way. How precious that you were attentive to the whisper of the Spirit.

I love stories like this too. I often want to be one of those whom God places other in front of me in need.

It is one of the neatest blessings to be able to serve the Kingdom in this way. Love you.
