The Easter Story

Here’s a story I think you should know,
It happened a long, long time ago.

So relax your mind and picture this
A rocky road lined with a joyful crowd
Shouting hosanna to the son of God

He rode on a donkey surrounded by those
Excited to be near the King of the Jews

They threw their cloaks and branches from trees
They screamed ‘til their voices were merely squeaks
They entered Jerusalem with a triumphant shout
Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

Now picture this a few days later, another procession
But the mood’s now somber as they followed the Savior
To a place called Golgotha

They saw him nailed to a wooden cross
Between two thieves one who mocked and scoffed,
You saved others now save yourself.

On that wooden cross on Golgotha’s hill
My Lord died for your sins and mine

But hey now, let’s not be sad
Three days later he defeated death
An empty tomb stands witness to this

Two angels stood guard at the tomb on that day
And said, “Jesus of Nazareth is not here, He’s risen today!”

Not long after that the saga continued
Jesus ascended to heaven where he sits at the right of God’s throne

But wait a minute now, the story hasn’t ended
Jesus is in heaven now but he’s coming back again
The question is, are you ready for the big event?

Beyond ready! But I will take moments this week to tarry with him on the road. These are important moments…lest I skip over the surrender to get to the resurrection. May God be close to each one of us as we journey to Calvary. We are a privileged Easter people and we must make the walk.

    peace for the journey~elaine

So what is it with the capitalization of Heaven/heaven. As a place, a real place, shouldn’t it be capitalized? I know I think about strange things…
    Please ‘enter me.’
    Thanks for the good word.

A beautiful poem Bernadine – and a wonderful story. How I love this time of year! It is because of Him that we have hope.

I love this season. It humbles me to think of Gods only son dyeing on the cross for, so that my sins were forgiven. Here is a perfect being, willing to do that for all of us. I pondered the thought of what Jesus went through as he was nailed on the cross. The physical pain he experianced. And the emotional pain he experianced seeing his mother witnessing it. Here is my hope. Three days later our Savior rose to be in heaven. The pain he experianced was temporary. Now Jesus lives pain free forever. And we get to do the same. In Rev 21:4 it states “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no moe death, or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.” For those who may be inflicted with pain currently in their live, may you reflect this scripture. God bless you all. “please enter me.” Eileen

I have to say I am a day late reading this devotion. I was sick and did not turn my computer on. I needed to read this today. I can’t tell you how blessed I am by your words. Nothing is so hard here on earth when we look at our eternal home, knowing Jesus is in Heaven and will return for you and me. The house we lease sold. As I prayed for God to prepare a home to move my family to he softly said “I already have and it is here in heaven with me”. No mater where I call home here on earth, I will not be home until I reach heaven. How I long for that day. Bless you for such sweet devotion.
