A Very Long Time
God calls to us every moment of every day of our lives. He whispers His delight in us through the laughter of a child, the shimmering beauty of the moonlight, a kiss of a loved one. We hear Him speak softly to us in the chirp of a bird or through music. We feel His touch in a breath of wind on our face or a hug from a close friend.
He is even present in times of profound suffering – a brother’s terminal cancer, the loss of a relationship or the death of a parent.
In all of these experiences, we glimpse our Beloved who is passionate about us. Every minute of every day, our Wooer longs for us to recognize how beautiful we are. He desires to tell us our lives are significant to Him and He has loved us intimately for a very long time.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 (The Message)
God picked you out as his from the very start. Think of it: included in God’s original plan of salvation by the bond of faith in the living truth.
What is it like to comprehend that you have been on God’s mind since time began?
Lord God, I am overwhelmed with the thought that You chose me before my life began. I am filled with thanks for the beauty that surrounds me, reminding me of the promises ahead and of Your love today. In Jesus name, Amen

- Apology…
Oh Lynn. I needed to hear that this morning. I just got ready for work and I am so down this morning (I guess I am just tired)…
That God had me on His mind from the beginning is the most beautiful thought…It is wonderful to know that He loves me, even in my not so ‘chipper’ moments.
Thank you Lynn for the reminder…this will get me through the day.
What a uplifting post – it’s wonderful to have thoughts as these (God pickin’ us before we were born) to ponder and think about – to help get us through moments of need. I, too, am thankful.
Thank You, God!
You know, over the last two days I have had the word’s to Amazed in my head: “You dance over me While I am unaware You sing all around
But I never hear the sound, Lord, I’m amazed by You….”
It is utterly amazing to realize ho wvery much He loves us, enough to wake us in the middle of the night to ive us the ift of His word, to allow us to suffer so He can bless us with His presence, to allow us to make mistakes so He can bless us with forgiveness.
When I start getting down He loves to remind me that He has called me by name and I am His. Praise the Lord for His claim on us.
This is a difficult thing to grasp intellectually… and yet Scripture also tells us the that all hairs on our head are numbered! I find these truths easier to understand when I “think” with my heart. Then I begin to get an inkling of His tender, yet profound love. Strangely, the times I’ve grieved have turned out to be my best times with the Lord. He was so present! Thanks for sharing this sweet reminder. Hugs!
I’ve been trying to comment all day, let’s hope this one works. Anyway what I was saying is that that’s such a powerful verse – God is so awesome!
