Affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity.

…the fruit
Lord bring forth in me, thoughts that are centered upon You, a heart that is focused on love and actions that reflect your glory and bring You honor.

…of the Spirit
Holy Spirit of God, today I choose to rest in You and rely on You.

…is love,
Teach me to love and let go of bitterness.

…joy,
I ask You to fill my cup of joy to overflowing and free me from despair and cynicism.

…peace,
Take from me worry; fill my soul with a peace that surpasses understanding.

…patience,
Place your patient hand upon me. Free me from irritation.

…kindness,
Lord, I want kindness to become my mantra; I leave behind, unconcern, pettiness and indifference.

…goodness,
instead of guilt.

…faithfulness,
to my mate, my family, my God and myself.

…gentleness
GRACE given to others.

…and self-control.
instead of anger.

Amen

Galatians: 22-23 (The Message)
But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

I can relate to this ALOT Lynn! I’m slowly learning to let go more and leave things up to God to deal with.

What wonderful thought to read on a Friday morning — I will take them to heart for today and let His spirit work in me. Thank you, Lynn.

Blessings on your day and always…

    Hi Lynn! 🙂
I think it was around a year (or more) ago when I heard Pastor Greg teach on prayer, modeling our prayer life using the example that our Lord Jesus used in Matthew 6:9-13. It was a really cool study. But Lynn, this example of yours, using the fruits of the Holy Spirit as a model helps me as a woman, wife and mom to focus on change and not just acknowledgment. I so needed this this morning. You are a blessing sister!

    Love and a big hug..:D

Thanks for the post…I am in the midst of some Disney madness now in Orlando and I am on the computer for a “breather” as my preschooler was acting up. Thanks for bringing my focus back to the Lord.
