He is Alive
“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.””
(Luke 24:1-7 ESV)
Every Easter I attend the Sunrise service. It is beautiful at our church; you can hear the geese in the wild preserve just north of us and see the Superstition Mountains in the East. When the sun SON rises over the mountains, it is breathtaking. What gets me every year though are the words that are spoken very loudly: “He is Risen – He is Risen INDEED”!!!
This year, we did something very cool. Instead of our normal (formal) confession time, we were invited to splat red or black paint on one of the 4 piece of wood the staff and youth had placed around our outside worship area. As we were singing the song “White Flag” by Chris Tomlin, our youth picked up the 4 pieces of wood to assemble a cross. Believe me, I wish we could do that every time during confession. It was powerful to say the least…
Christ took all our splatters of sin to the cross, conquered death on our behalf. How powerful is that?!?
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 15:54-57 ESV)
I enjoy Christmas; Easter I love!!! You see, death could not hold Christ in the tomb; on the third day He rose, just as He said He would. Jesus is Alive – He is Risen!!!
“Lord of Heaven and Earth. Thank You for giving us victory over death through our Lord Jesus Christ. You had a plan of our salvation from the beginning. May we have Easter in our hearts all-year-around and share the hope with all we come in contact with. May we never forget Your sacrifice. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen!”
