Are You Happy?
In a recent poll that I read, only one-third of Americans said that they were very happy. The poll further revealed that one reason that most Americans said that they were happy was because they considered themselves to be religious or have an eternal faith in God.
While there are many other factors that play into finding happiness, having a relationship with Christ is very important when seeking joy and happiness. Mind you, I did not say having religion in your life will bring joy, but having a relationship will- there is a big difference.
I know many people who can quote scripture better than myself but yet have not made that personal connection with Christ. Knowing about God is not the same thing as knowing God. The pursuit of happiness is something that many people seek but for many, never actually find it. The question of, “How do I find happiness?” never seems to get answered.
One reason for that is because people seek happiness in the wrong places.
People try to find happiness in their relationships (marriages, friendships) but often find rejection and isolation. People try to find happiness in their possessions but are unsatisfied when their “stuff” goes out of style. The world tries to offer us ways to be happy but the only true path to happiness is found in God. A relationship with Him results in a joy that is everlasting.
The Psalmist explains very simply what kinds of people are happy…
“Happy (blessed, fortunate, prosperous, to be envied) are the people whose God is the Lord.” (Psalm 144:15)
As a Believer, I can find myself in the most horrific circumstances but yet be at peace with how things are and truly have joy in my heart. This is something that most unbelievers cannot understand. Just the other day, someone who knew about a crisis going on in my family asked, “aren’t you mad about it?” I explained that I was not mad because my circumstances are not the indicator of my joy; my joy resonates deep down in my heart because God is my Lord.
I’m not surprised at the poll results, but to be honest, I’m a little sad that only a third of Americans are happy. My prayer is that more people will surrender their hearts and their happiness to God and He will fill them with His eternal peace and everlasting joy.
“I’ve got that joy joy joy joy down in my heart –Where?
Down in my heart –Where?
Down in my heart –Where?
I’ve got that joy joy joy joy down in my heart –Where?
Down in my heart to stay”“I’ve got that joy joy joy joy down in my heart –Where?
Down in my heart –Where?
Down in my heart –Where?
I’ve got that joy joy joy joy down in my heart –Where?
Down in my heart to stay”CHORUS
“And I’m so happy, so very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart
And I’m so happy, so very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart”
If you are searching for happiness, check for it deep down in your heart, where Jesus can be found.

When I first looked at your topic, this song came to my mind before I scrolled down and saw it there.Jesus does give joy along the way!
Jesus gives sustained joy in the middle of all life’s troubles. Knowing him makes a difference.
Great reminder that true happiness is not found in things or people, but in arms of our Lord and Savior.
