Armed for war

As we fast approach the birthday of our country, I can’t help but think of the freedoms that we experience each and every day. So many freedoms that each of us take for granted.

The freedom to live safely and peacefully in our homes has been a privilege all of my life, but seemingly, we are approaching the day that such freedom may be coming to an end.

Imagine what it would be like to wake up to gunfire and exploding grenades all around you. One minute, you are comfortable in your bed and the next, you are under attack.

This scenario best describes what happens to us as believers. We can be going along, just enjoying life, when suddenly we find ourselves being assaulted by a flurry of doubts, attacked by gripping fears, or burned by times of suffering.

We should not be surprised or taken back by this war that spins around us.

The Bible says that we are in a war “against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places”. (Ephesians 6:12)

Whenever we leave behind a life of death and sin and enter a new life with Jesus, Satan will declare war against us. He will use every means that he can to tempt us and destroy us.

1 JOHN 5:5 “Who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”

War is looming all around us, not only in far away places, but the attack of war is inside of each of us. The threat of the enemy is great, but as a Christian, we have the hope and the promise of God that we WILL be victorious in the end! No doubt, the battle will bring some defeats and some scars, but the Spirit inside of each of us will win against the powers of darkness in this world!

“ARE YOU ARMED AND READY FOR BATTLE?”

There you have it. Promoting violence against those who speak the truth!

You are right, Laurie. I battle every day insecurity. But I know that I can find the strength through my Lord to keep me going.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us this morning…

Thanks for sharing. I am wanting to study more on being prepared and armed for the spiritual battle after hearing radio programming on this topic recently. Have a great day.

I am so thankful that Jesus has already won the victory for us and provided everything we need to be victorious in our daily battles. You are so right – we need to be aware and prepared.
