Attitude Does Make a Difference

Have you ever received some unexpected good news on a day that started out on a somewhat dark and depressing note? No matter how you looked it was as if you couldn’t see a glimmer of hope and then totally out of the blue, good news!

This was the lot of the Israelites for many years as they wandered in the wilderness. Every day the wide, open space of hot sand and nothingness loomed before them.

Every day, they probably wondered, “Will this be the day that we cross over from bareness into plenty?”

Every day they expected a change and seemingly every day they were disappointed as things remained the same.  For a full forty years, there was no change in the desert’s landscape.

I’m sure they were disappointed but they kept on putting one foot in front of the other in spite of their setbacks. Then one day the landscape changed, that day didn’t end the way it began. A day that started in the desert ended in the Promised Land.

Then the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, “Be strong and have strength of heart. For you will bring the people of Israel into the land I promised them. And I will be with you.” Deuteronomy 31:23 (NLV)

However the Israelites did not have to wander in the wilderness for forty years.  It was in part, because of their murmurings and complaining that they did not experience the Promised Land sooner and some, not at all.

So if you’re in the midst of a wilderness experience, remember attitude can make all the difference.

How did your day start? Are you awaiting a long prayed for, prophesied about change? Don’t give up! Don’t allow the nothingness of your situation to cause you to lose hope. Trust God! Continue to move forward although everything within you may be saying give up. The same God who caused the Israelites to cross over into the Promised Land is with you and He is able to change your situation also.

Be strong and have strength of heart! Do not be afraid or lose faith. For the Lord your God is with you anywhere you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NLV)

Dear God, I confess, sometimes my attitude when I’m going through a situation does not always reflect my faith in you.  Help to adjust my attitude, quit murmuring and complaining and trust you to see me through, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank you for the reminder- attitude does affect everything. I often try to surround myself with praise to our mighty King – Jesus- so that not matter comes my way I can stand rejoicing in Him… not always easy though.

Dear Bernadine, when my attitude is off, even just a little bit I find it harder to praise and worship Jesus Christ for all He had done for me, when I am in the attitude of worship, The Holy Spirit so reminds and brings back the things I am so greatful for. Blessings Gloria
