Brandi’s Prayer

It is four o’clock in the afternoon and the phone rings as Brandi is stepping into the shower. A quivering and panicked voice stammers, “I lost my engagement ring. I have looked for it all day. I went back to the bank, to the school, every place I have been today. Brandi, please pray that I can find my ring.” *sob*

Brandi assures her newly engaged friend she will pray and join the search just as soon as she showers and dresses. Jumping into the shower, she prays. “O Lord, please help us find this ring. It means so much to her and we just need to find it.” Standing in the shower praying, a thought instantly pops into her head.

I can’t believe it. Did God actually speak to me in the shower? She is certain God told her exactly where the ring is. In her excitement, she flees the shower, soaking wet, throws on clothes, jumps into the car, and speeds to the school parking lot. She knows God told her the ring is in a parking space next to the blue, striped walkway, about two feet away from the curb.

She spots the parking space at the end of the lot. It is coincidentally empty or perhaps not coincidentally. Pulling up behind the space, Brandi stops the car and bolts out of the seat, now certain she knows the ring will be there. Sure enough, THERE IT IS, twinkling in the sunlight!! Shaking, crying and laughing, all at the same time, she picks up the ring, and phones her friend from the parking lot.

Several weeks back, Brandi shared her astonishing prayer with me. I am delighted every time I think about it. God is always in the details of our lives. Does God care about a lost ring??? Of course He does! Anything that concerns His children is of concern to our Father. Is anything too small or too big for the Creator of the Cosmos?

This true-life account is an example of God responding to believing prayer! The story doesn’t end here. Brandi followed this story with a statement that I will never forget. “I always try to pray seeking God’s will even when asking help to find a ring.”

Believing prayer in the heart of God’s will is a powerful combination. Seeking God’s will daily in our prayer life results in prayers uttered in unison with the Spirit. He desires to answer our prayers in amazing and powerful ways. So today, in the shower, seek God’s will for your day then watch as amazing and powerful expressions of God’s love and concern become visible.

Matthew 21:22 (New International Version)
Jesus says, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Father, teach us to pray with the heart of a child in simple belief. Daily let us approach your throne with humility seeking your will for our lives. Help us overcome our unbelief and see your patient hand in the details of the day. Amen

You know Lynn, I had prayers like that. I remember one in particular. My computer at work was locked down with a password. Only I knew it, and I didn’t write it down either. Well, one morning I couldn’t remember and I started to go in to a panic stage, because everything I typed, was wrong. After many attempts to access my PC, I closed my eyes (by this time in tears) and prayed:”God you know the password, I just let you guide my fingers over the keyboard…” Well, when I opened my eyes, my program was running. To this day, I do not know the password – but He did. Needless to say, I changed the password and wrote it down…
So, yes, God cares about even the little stuff in our daily life – we just have to trust Him with our concerns.
Thank you for sharing Brandi’s prayer this morning with us.

This is one of my kid’s faorite prayers. They loe seeing that od knows where things are and will tell them if they ask. My oldest is the expert at this but the otehr day my son had been playing with my keys and lost them. I asked him to find them. He looked at me with fear in his eyes because he didn’t know where they were, then his face lit up. “Mommy, let’s pray about it first.”

He proceeded to pray then opened my purse and put his hand in to right where they were. The look on his face when he realized that the Lord hadd shown him their location was priceless.

I have been learning how to pray lately and it seems that what I have never done before helps me the best. I am learning to pray on my knees. I find a calmess comes over me and I am more willing to listen for my Father’s voice and to seek out his teachings. And that in all things no matter the size I should pray!

    Wonderful teachings today! Happy Friday!

As of late, I have OFTEN had this occurr! A woman came into my daughter’s hospital room from church and asked to prayer with us. She mentioned a prayer I had not recited since I was a child. Not wanting to falter in the presence of a church elder, I thought “Lord, please let the words come to me!” And they did! I could NOT recite that prayer without looking it up this moment, but He brought the words to me. He is beyond amazing!!

All neat stories, especially of course, Brandi’s. Yes, this has happened to me too. The Lord loves us– his children–so passionately. When we surrender in total dependence, viola, He answers! Your words are always such an encouragement. (I’ve been enjoying your posts at your main blog too.) Have a wonderful weekend Lynn. *-) Love, e-Mom
