Can you handle the truth?
Do you want the truth? Can you handle the truth?
JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD,THE TOMB IS EMPTY. Let me share what I know, and how I base my life on that statement.
1. It is stated and recorded in all four gospels. (Matthew 28: 9, 17; Mark 16, Luke 24; John 20).
2. All four gospels stated that it was Mary who saw Jesus first. Let me explain why this is significant. Women during this time were not considered reliable, they did not have a social standing. So if the disciples did steal the body, and did make up a story, they would want to appear creditable by having someone with more prominent standing to discover the body missing. But since that was not the case, the disciples were saying, “well, whether we like or not, this is what happened.†Another example is in 1 Corinthians chapters 1- 11, Paul lists people who have seen Jesus post resurrection. He does this because many of them are still alive, and if he was preaching lies, they would riot against him. Notice what was missing from Paul’s list, women. To list women who saw Jesus did not serve his case, because they were seen unreliable. But the disciples had to write about it, because…well that is what happened!
3. Thirdly, the Jewish response to all of this. In Matthew 27 it states there was a concern the disciples would steal the body so a guard was placed at the tomb and the tomb was sealed. In Matthew 28 it states while Mary was running to tell the disciples the guard was running to the city to explain what had happened. The Priests were worried this story would get out, so from right at that point a plan of deception was developed. The guard was paid off, and the word went out from there that the disciples stole the body. That is where the story originates from, the Chief Priests.
4. The Jewish term “resurrection†means physical body. There were many other words that could have been used, if it was a spirit they saw, or anything else. But the word “resurrection†means the physical body, just like it was used for Lazarus. Except Lazarus was raised to die again eventually, Jesus was raised never to die again.
5. I could list more about it being a physical body, Thomas said he would not believe unless he saw the scares
(John 20:27-29). “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.” Sounds like something we all would say, but then it goes on to say: 27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
When the disciples were frightened that they were looking at a Spirit, Jesus directs them to the marks on his hands and side. Also, Jesus ate with the disciples, showing a physical hunger. Jesus’ body was a physical body, a physical ressurection.
I have no doubt in my mind no matter what I see on the news, no matter what evidence is laid before me:
After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. (Acts 1:3)
Did you hear what I said? JESUS IS ALIVE!
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for my sins. Thank you for his ressurection three days later. You are Lord of all, even Lord over death. And it is because of your Sons suffering that I can now have fellowship with you, right here, right now!! Thank you, thank you, thank you…..
Do you know the Son? If you would like to know him personally and accept him as Lord and Savior I would love to tell you how. The awesome thing about Jesus is he makes coming to Him the easiest thing in the world.

I am assuming that this is in response to the show saying that Jesus was buried–I have only heard of it, we don’t watch tv. Laurel, your post is very accurate. Perfect response. He lives.
I saw the commercial for the show also. From what I’ve read about it (obviously I’m not watching the show), the man who found that tomb, archeologists and many learned people doubt that it’s Jesus’ tomb, but the film maker James Cameron is determined to prove that it is. Just another attempt by Hollywood to discredit our beliefs. I don’t need anyone to tell me if Jesus rose from the dead or not. I know in my heart what the true answer is. Jesus is our risen Lord.
Amen, sweet Sister. I love that you responded on the rumor so quickly. I was hoping to get something posted by tomorrow–I have some back-ground on the whole story by the discovery channel…Believe it or not, but our Christian radios station has been talking about the lie all week…
One thing I want to add to your post today. Why would have the apostles and disciples endured imprisonment and torture. I don’t think they would have if Jesus didn’t rose from the dead 🙂
You are such a blessing…Have a wonderful weekend.
Laurel,
Cameron is a doomed man. His arrogance smells to high heaven. Thank you for writing about this. I am praying weaker believers are not deceived.
I laugh sometimes at the enemy’s attempts to discredit Christ. In the end he just polarizes Christ followers more and further pushes Christ into the spotlight of the world. Great post!
I have read even the most liberal Christians blogs on this subject, and everyone agrees that this is inaccurate information. (the documentary) It is the enemy at work, for sure.
Great post and very timely!
I haven’t seen anything about a documentary, but the reseurrection passage that is dearest to me is 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
Amen, sister!
