Looking Deep

Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

I Corinthians 5:6-8

We’re entering the season where we remember the sacrifice Jesus displayed on the cross. It’s always a somber, yet exciting time for me in my personal walk with the Lord. My mind still cannot fathom the depth of what God sent Jesus to do. It is so unlike what our minds are used to hearing and our eyes used to seeing. If we can follow his example and love like him,  how much better off we’d be!

As we think on his sacrifice this weekend, it would be beneficial for us to examine our lives. Look into the depths of your heart and be honest with yourself. Is there hidden sin? Hidden hurts? Are there any grudges we’re holding? Those things will hinder us as we walk with the Lord. Sin in our lives cannot be left alone. It has to be dealt with so we can bear fruit, the fruit that glorifies the Father. He desires for us to live abundantly striving to sin less each day.

Sin just like the leaven that Paul speaks of in I Corinthians 5. A little sin in our lives, can ruin us completely. If the sin isn’t confessed and turned from, then it will grow until you’re overtaken with it. That’s far from what the Lord wants for those who claim to be followers of Him. I encourage you to take time each day during this Passover season and ask the Father what is it that He wants to rid you of. There’s always room for growth in our spiritual lives. Desire to be that vessel the Lord wants you to be.

Lord, thank You for the sacrifice you gave for us. We can never fully understand all that Jesus went through when he died on that cross. Thank You for raising Him from the dead. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to live in us and be our Helper. May we ask the hard question, what sin lies within my life? May we seek to let You rid us of any sin that reigns in our lives. We desire to be that vessel that is empty and filled with You so we can minister others and please You. Thank You for our Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Yes, it is amazing what God accomplished through the death and resurrection of His Son, and our Lord. May I walk worthy of that sacrifice.

Remembering the way He suffered for my sin is sobering. So unworthy. So thankful!
