Created to Worship
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” ~ Philippians 2:9-11 (ESV)
As some of you might know, I am currently ‘attending’ Beth Moore’s Bible study on Romans. This past week she was talking about worship. EVERYONE on earth is created to worship only One – the true God.
It really never occurred to me, but she was right. Think about all the nations on earth. Everyone is worshiping something. Either they worship themselves, other gods, nature—but they worship. They have temples, altars and the like. But why do all people worship? God has put it on everyone’s heart! Some just don’t know yet that they are created to worship Him, the Lord of lords and King of Kings.
One of my favorite worship leaders is Don Moen. He has written many songs that are used all around the country in worship. Our church’s praise team has used many of his songs to lead worship. One particular song from Don Moen came to mind when I listened to Beth’s Study – “Hallelujah to the Lamb”…Here are the words to the chorus:
”Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah to the Lamb
Hallelujah, Hallelujah by the Blood of Christ we stand
Every tongue, every tribe
Every people, every land
Giving glory, giving honor
Giving praise unto the Lamb of God” (D.Moen/Debbye Graafsma)
I remember singing this song the very first time leading the congregation. I was imaging how all people stand before the Lord, worshiping Him. It brought tears to my eyes and chills down my spine. What a beautiful picture in my mind.
I pray that I have many opportunities to share His grace and forgiveness with people who do not know Him yet. Will you join me to point to the one God, who is worthy of worship?
Lord of Heaven and Earth. Grant me to share the Good News with many who do not know You yet. Help me to speak the right words, so people see what their heart is longing for–You. Lord, I am looking forward to the day when we all stand before You and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen.
Blessings on your weekend and especially on you worship…

Thank you for this precious post Iris, bless you.
This is so true. God created us exactly the way we needed to be and when we don’t walk in His will or worship Him, we try and fill that void any way we can.
I’ll have to check out Beth’s teaching on Romans. I bet it is awesome!
I am just doing a study activity on this very thing in my own life. The Lord is truly amazing, always aligning things for me to remind me He’s right there caring for me.
Great post, Iris. Thanks!
What a beautiful post, Iris!
“Created to Worship”, what a beautiful post Iris. It sounds as if you’re gaining a lot from your study of Romans.
I got a little glimpse of what praising the Lord is going to be like at VBS this past week. One song in particular called We Believe. It was beautiful watching a room full of children and adults singing praises to God.
Iris,
I have been unable to attend church for a month until last night. Worship with the body of Christ was so precious. I missed it. I need it and yes, our God is worthy, deserves……
Wonderful post!
That is so true Iris – we will worship something or someone. The only One worthy of worship is the Lord. He never fails. He is perfect in every way. It’s what I love most about singing in choir – all of us worshipping together. Just think what it will be like in heaven some day.
This was a beautiful post Iris.
So sweet a post you share with us…Let us worship the Lord with our mouths, our hearts, our eyes..our spirits..our souls,..and also our body…our hands..our foots…dancing….
I enjoy praise and worship time during our church services. I really feel this allows people who would not ordinarily worship the opportunity.
It’s so true that people are worshipping all kind of things. I have seen people that collect certain items and am amazed at the lengths they will go. No price too high or no place to far to get what they want. Passion…..they are full of passion for these items. In fact, they are almost consumed with their precious treasures.(I am not saying that collecting is wrong, but it should be kept in the right priority) I want to always worship with passion for my savior. After all, He never gives anything less than His best for me!
When I am singing and praising on sunday mornings, I love to think about how the songs and prayers of my friends at my old church, and the songs and prayers of the missionaries I know it other countries, and those of my sister in Indiana, are all floating up along wtih mine, joining with the praises of the friends and reletives who ahve already arrived in heaven and arrive at the Father’s feet togehter.
well said, my friend and very timely. brings to mind Chris Tomlin’s song “Made to Worship” Thx for sharing. ;D
